A member of SOS Children's Villages International, SOS Children's Villages Cameroon is a humanitarian organization that takes care of children who have lost parental care or who run the risk of losing it and participates in the development of communities. We work in the spirit of the United Nations Guidelines for Alternative Care for Children and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. We support these rights around the world.
SOS Children's Villages began its activities in Cameroon on the 05th of January 1990 after the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cameroon and SOS Children's Villages International. SOS Children's Villages Cameroon operates in two programs: The SOS Children's Village Program of Mbalmayo, operational since 1998 and the most recent SOS Children's Village Program of Douala opened in 2007. A National Direction based in Yaoundé coordinates the activities of these two Programs.
